Task: Begin learning song & Learn C-major scale
What I actually did: Begin learning “Born Under a Bad Sign” & learned E-minor Pentatonic scale
Well, now that I’ve realized that I’ve already learned the C-major scale, I looked into other scales I wanted to master. I’m really drawn to blues style of guitar, and found this E-minor pentatonic scale. Pentatonic means 5 notes, instead of the traditional scales that use 7 notes. I really want to learn Albert King’s “Born Under a Bad Sign” and found this Youtube that teaches you the E-minor pentatonic scale as well as the song itself. Well, it doesn’t quite teach you but he plays it and I want to learn how to figure it out based on the scale I’ve learned. Halfway through the “Born Under a Bad Sign” riff, the key changes from E-minor into A-minor, and I would love to figure that out! (These are goals for my next week’s task!) This week I’ve just been practicing this E-minor pentatonic scale, as well as going back and practicing “When the Saint’s Go Marching In” just to solidify my knowledge of reading music.
Here’s the E-minor pentatonic scale:
