Task: Begin reading music with book and learn A-minor scale
What I actually did: C Major Scale and When the Saints Go Marching In
What I learned was that the A-minor scale is actually the same as C-major scale! Here’s a picture of the scale that I learned.
I begin with playing the C on this scale, work my way up to G and head straight back down to C. This reflects what we’re learning where you always want to begin and end in the key of your composition. I found this fun to play when I memorized it, but when it went to translating these notes to reading music in the “When The Saints Go Marching In” it was a whole different experience reading the music from the sheet music, and reflecting it with the right note on my guitar. This is definitely something I need practice in!
