Us students are more concerned than ever about efficiency and effectiveness. We don’t want to put too much brainpower into much else other than school or work, so when it comes to health and fitness – it’s got to be easy! Here’s a couple apps that I’ve found really helpful in monitoring and encouraging wellness!
“If we could put physical activity into a ‘pill’ it would likely be the most powerful medication that we have across a variety of health conditions.”
Kay Hawes, 2022
Strava! This is where all of your fitness can go into one app: whether it be running, walking, biking, swimming, even canoeing! Crazily enough you could record your golf game or your day up the mountain snowboarding. It has everything on there! Shoot.. I can start tracking my yoga breaks in there too! It’s quick, it’s easy and it’s got everything. Here’s a little glimpse of what it looks like..

Furthermore! Here are a couple other resources for staying well!
- Meditative activities: My (lovely) professor Michael has taught me that every 20 minutes of looking at the screen, it’s recommended to look somewhere *else* that’s 20 meters away, for 20 seconds. This is what it takes for your eyes to reset and your body to relax! here’s a little link to prove it!
- You ALSO should be getting 10k steps in a day. It’s apparently the “one drug heals all” when it comes to health. And this article claims “Movement and physical activity in general confer benefits on the vascular system, the heart and delivering oxygen rich blood to the muscles and organs,” she said. “There are so many molecules released that have positive effects on our body for blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose regulation and more.”
- I’ll bring in some more resources in upcoming posts!
- xoxo, bye for now!
