As a student, it can be challenging to get into a rhythm and routine for working out. It begins with the question of what to do! So for this month, my aim was variety, to see what I like, what works and what doesn’t. Check it out:
Activity 1: | Activity 2: | Activity 3: | |
Week One:(Jan 8) | Yoga (Monday) | Work out (Wed) | Snowboarding (Saturday) |
Week Two:(Jan 15) | Yoga (Monday) | Swim laps (Wed) | Work out (Friday) |
Week Three:(Jan 22) | Yoga (Monday) | Run 4k (Wed) | Swim (Friday) |
Here you see lots of variety throughout my exploration. As someone with a busy schedule, I’ve found the most promising form of exercising are ones with two qualities: convenience and efficiency. It’s not sustabinable to go snowboarding every weekend (although that would be my dream!) The things I do most often are the ones that are easiest to access, and quickest to get out of the way in my day. As you can see, yoga on Monday mornings is a part of my routine. The time and place never changes, and eliminates decision fatigue (something I’m quite aware of as a student!) I’m still working out the kinks of the rest of my schedule: I’ll keep you posted!
